Singular Test Strategy
One element to consider is the development of a singular Test Strategy for ALL IT assignments within the organisation. This concept is based on “One Strategy Fits All” and if the Project Manager / Test Manager decides to deviate from the organisation’s Test Strategy, he / she must justify that deviation and get it approved by the appropriate authority (e.g. IT Steering Committee). The deviation from the singulat Test Strategy becomes a section In the Project Management Plan (PMP) and addresses:
-
The contents of the deviation;
-
The rationale for the deviation;
-
The approval for the deviation;
The advantages of this approach are:
-
The Test Strategy needs to be developed once only (and not for every project);
-
Reduction of the load on the project manager.
