
Program / Project Management Office (PMO)
The Program / Project Management Office (PMO), is a body within the organisation that strives to standardtize and introduce calture of repeatition in the execution of projects.
The PMO is the sources (and guidance) for:

Methodologies;

Governance (e.g. Policies, Processes, Procedures);

Templates;

Standards;
-
Documentation (e.g. Reports, Matrices, etyc.)

Monitoring Active projects and portfolios;

Reporting (e.g. Status, Progress;

In some instances, the PMO accommodates the Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) functions.
The degree of the PMO's control over projects varies from organization to organization. It can be:

Supportive, w.ith a consultative role;

Controlling, by requiring compliance; and / or
-
Directive, by taking control and managing the projects.
The Project Management Institute (PMI) describes the PMO Community of Practice (CoP), describes the PMO as a strategic driver for organizational excellence which seeks to enhance the practice of execution management, organizational governance and strategic change management.
